Piaggio Vespa GTS 250 i.e
The Vespa is one of the greatest phenomena of the 20th century. It was produced in 125 models and more than 25 million copies. It is considered a masterpiece of the brilliant idea of the constructor Corradino d’Ascanio.
The creation of Vespa was inspired by the small motorcycles that were dropped by the Allies by parachute in the north of Italy in the Second World War, to be used in the fight against the Germans. The creator of the Vespa, or the most responsible for its creation, is Enrico Piaggio, who after the war decided to design a motorcycle suitable for moving around damaged and destroyed Italian cities. The first such motorcycle was registered on April 23, 1946, and Piaggio gave it the name Vespa, which means “wasp” in Latin.
The first public presentation of the Vespa took place in 1946 at the Milan Design Fair, and it caused a wave of creation of similar vehicles around the world. So, the Japanese soon started producing the “Fuji rabbit”, and the British and Germans also made some versions of the Vespa. However, none of those vehicles ever came close to the popularity of the Italian beauty.
The first model started to be sold very quickly, so around 2,500 copies were sold immediately, which was a very large number for that time. Piaggio soon released a stronger model, and the Vespa became more and more popular over the years, so in 1956, the millionth Vespa was produced. Four years later, that number doubled, and the Vespa became a phenomenon in the motorcycle world.
Due to its popularity and design, it didn’t take long for this scooter to grace the covers of various fashion and style magazines. However, that was not all, because soon the Vespa was accepted by Hollywood, and it was first promoted by Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn in the movie “Roman Holiday”.
After them, numerous celebrities such as Raquel Welch, Henry Fonda, Antonio Banderas made a splash with a Vespa on the movie screen. Outside of Italy, Vespa achieved its greatest success in Great Britain, and enjoyed particular popularity in the sixties. To this day, Vespa is successfully sold all over the world, so this Italian beauty, even after 8 decades, will not go into a well-deserved retirement so soon.
The previous story is told because we found and bought the famous 2006 model Vespa GTS 250 i.e.
Whether you’re cruising in the summer sun, battling traffic to work or taking a weekend trip on the open road, this is the ideal motorcycle for You. The direct fuel injection four-stroke is a powerplant that has strong, consistent power perfect for overtaking and will easily overtake most four-wheelers. The GTS also easily maintains speed on the open road. It has a slightly uneven pulse on the back due to the large single-cylinder engine.
What this scooter has in abundance, is style. Almost everything has a bit of Italian charm. Modest and tasteful, the use of chrome recalls Vespa’s origins; chrome accents include mirrors, badges and a few small trim pieces.
However, the 21st century has not been forgotten; many modern details such as digital tachometer, fuel gauge and engine are subtly integrated into the retro design and are created using the latest technology. One detail that really stands out are the footrests on the passenger side, they are works of art, even pulling them out has style.
